In 1996, Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd. Entered into
a “Partnership” with the Government of Alberta
to be the Highway Maintenance Contractor for the highway
network in Southern Alberta and, as result, has created
our Highway Maintenance Division. Today this Division has
seven Contract Maintenance Areas, the maximum number attainable
under the Province’s current contract structure.
The contracts include the network west of Calgary to Banff
National Park stretching down to Waterton National Park,
east to the Saskatchewan border and south to the United
States border.
In total the Highway Maintenance Division is responsible
for maintaining more than 8,000 kilometers of provincial
highways, employs approximately 230 people out of 36
different facilities.
Volker Stevin’s responsibility is for the safe
passage of the people, goods and services, as well as
the preservation of the infrastructure on Alberta’s
highways. We now also provide the same services to numerous
municipal road authorities and private clients greatly
extending our expertise in ensuring Alberta’s citizens
and visitor’s safe and comfortable road travel.
